There are two different ways and types of people who approach the infamous “Monday”. For some, It’s the first day back to work/reality after the weekend. For others, it is the beginning of a new week and a chance to hit the ground running and attack the day! Everyone has choices.. no one is telling you how you should handle your Monday. There isn’t a clear cut IKEA “how to” manual for directions on your day. Everyone gets the same clean slate and 24 hours. The choice is yours! What are you going to do with the Monday?
I’m attacking the day. After a LONG weekend in NYC (first time back to the big apple since moving out), I am quiet tired. Double espresso and a 9 hour sleep can’t even fight that. But, I know that I will be holding myself accountable and attack the day in a healthy way. I will not over strain my body and cause physical/mental overuse. I will be conscious of my activity.
There is something about a good 5K run after work that really puts me in an awesome state of mind. That feeling of finishing up a 3.10 mile run and taking the headphones out. Would assume it’s the same feeling of a woman taking off her bra after a long day of work. I don’t know if this is true BUT.. the memes suggest this. Sometimes my Nike Run Club app will ask me, “What do you want to takeaway from this run?”.. The answer is complex , yet also simple. I want to feel a sense of accomplishment. I want to feel that reward of natural dopamine rush. That natural runners high.. I want to feel like I got better on a day in which everyone can easily coast through. I don’t ever want to be average. I know that this 5K on a Monday will ultimately make me have a better tomorrow. I know that deciding to go for a run will not only have benefits for myself, but for everyone else I interact with. Run with a purpose. Redefine the calendar day.
GO WIN YOUR DAY! #MMGA
